U11s Sloggers well beaten. Was it “dew” to the 10:00 AM start?

BSCC u11s derby took place on a damp and sultry Cricketfield Lane. Sloggers won the toss and inserted the Eagles on a green track. However it became very clear very soon that bowing with a wet cricket ball is not easy. Uncharacteristic sloppy bowling and fielding allowed Ethan (11) and Harry (10) to provide a solid platform which was fully exploited late on by Krishan who finished unbeaten on 27 scoring heavily behind square from some wayward bowling. Chris took the 2 wickets captured by the bowlers and the 115 total looked like a formidable target. The eagles bowled with much greater control in dryer conditions led by Arthur, Tom F and the excellent Luca. The swinging ball defeated many a forward defensive stroke as the Eagles shares the wickets around the team. Some resistance came from Ed F, William and Ed W but none of the batsmen reached double figures eventually reaching just 64 all out. As ever many things to learn and congrats to the Eagles who were far superior on the day.
