u11s lose out in another thriller!

Another great contest at Cricketfield Lane. Stortford played a strong bowling unit in Broxbourne and came up agonisingly short again. Stortford lost the toss and were put in on a lively wicket. Runs were never easy to come by and luck was also in short supply. Some great catches from the oppo and some bad luck for some boys left us 36-8! However Ozzy G and Kieran W-P (coming in at 9 & 10) showed real maturity and technique to ensure we batted our full 20 overs reaching 60. Two overs into Broxbourne's reply they were 5 for 3! 3 wickets for Ed W in his first over! More good bowling saw us continue to take wickets regularly (Eddie F (2) and Will T (1) plus two run outs). However 1 Broxbourne batter stood firm in amongst the madness and his 25 really made the difference. That said it still took a couple of very streaky edges to fine leg and third man to finally win it for Broxbourne. Well done again to the boys....despite 2 or 3 dropped catches they are sparking when bowling and fielding, time in the middle will transform their batting and they support each other which is great to see.
