U11s win in best performance of the season so far

The sun appeared in Broxbourne as Kieran (skipper for the day) won the toss and inserted Broxbourne. Miserly bowling kept the run rate down initially on a tricky uneven surface. The Sloggers age old issue of extras creeping up hit us again but it was overall a disciplined bowling and fielding display. Some great catches (Harry, Ed F & Daniel) were backed up by good bowling with wickets shared between Ed W(3) and one each for Ed F, Alex and Harry. Chasing a total of 80 might have been a challenge early in the season but throughout the team the batting has come on significantly. We have now had 5 or 6 batmen reach the 20s which is a sure sign they are capable of building an innings and seeing off the straight balls. Kieran and Benji got us off to a solid start and ran well between the wickets. Ed F came in and was then followed in by William H. That pair put on well over 40 runs between them with a mix of great striking (6 fours between them) and really positive running between the wickets. It was an excellent partnership only broken when William deservedly retired 26* with the game already decided. Eddie F finished off in style with a 4 to enable us to reach our target with 6.1 overs to spare! It was by some distance our most comprehensive victory and the second game in a row our middle order has won games with significant partnerships. A good day at the office!
