The U11 Eagles set a formidable target at Cricketfield Lane of 141-6 in their 20 overs, after having been asked to bat by their visitors Broxbourne. Ethan Hill (19) got the Eagles off to a flyer, whilst Harry Barnes (13) was the vital 'glue' that held the innings together. There were also valuable contributions from Tom Foden (14), Krishan Fernando, who retired unbeaten on 25 and also Luca Livermore (10).
The target of 142 always looked to be out of reach for the visitors, but The Eagles were lacklustre in the field and this needs to improve. Walking in, backing up, positive encouragement and 'staying alert' are key areas that the whole team need to concentrate on. In tighter games this will be the key difference between either victory or defeat.
There were however some strong bowling performances; especially from Arthur Howes and Oliver Millar, who picked up a wicket each and also Sam Braund who conceded very few runs. A special mention goes to Jack Tumelty, who bowled impressively in his first ever game of cricket.
