The U11 Eagles (11 a side team) put in a strong performance in Hertford this evening, to gain qualification and advance to the Quarter Finals next week. Due to various school events, the team was made up by 3 boys from the Under 10's (Adi, Veer and Wilson), all of whom can feel rightly proud of themselves this evening. Their contribution towards this victory was a valuable one.
Having lost the toss, the Eagles batted first and posted a large score of 131 for 5 wickets, with Ethan H (28 not out) and Krishan (25 not out) top scoring. There were also valuable contributions from Seb (10) and Tom (8) as the Eagles piled on the runs to set the hosts an imposing target.
The Hertford reply never really got going, as all 10 bowlers bowled a superb line and length and there were 3 wickets for Ethan H, 2 for Will J and one apiece for Grace and Tom. The fielding was quite superb at times with brilliant stops from Veer and Tom. The whole team were always 'alert' and supporting each other, with real positive energy. Hertford ultimately finished up on just 74-8, meaning The Eagles won comfortably by 57 runs. So it was "smiles all round", come the end and The Eagles now have a few days to rest.... and prepare for 2 "big" quarter final games next week.
