U11s v St Margaretsbury

An excellent team effort ensured we started the season with a good win. We batted first with Will F & William S scoring 16 runs in their 4 overs thanks to 2 boundaries from Will. Their score was lower as they lost 3 wickets. Suzannah and Harrison then took it to 222 at halfway with some good singles but again both were out once. Joseph and James J added another 28 together helped by some wayward bowling but crucially did not lose a wicket (which is -5 runs in this cricket). James G and Oliver finished strongly hitting 3 boundaries between them and losing only 1 wicket meaning we finished on a creditable 279-6. Will and William bowled tightly at the start and Joseph pulled off a great run out with a direct hit, once he realised you have to appeal to get the decision. Harrison bowled well and Suzannah picked up a wicket in the next over, keeping them behind the rate needed. Joseph and James G both took a wicket and James J kept it tight and then William finished with 2 wickets to ensure they were well short of their target at the end. I should also mention Oliver, in his first game as wicketkeeper, did a great job with only 5 byes and some great stops. The key to this game was that everybody contributed and we bowled much straighter than St Margaretsbury who ended on 248-7. Thanks to Luke for scoring and great to see all the parents supporting the team.
