BSCC win a thriller!!!

At 5.55pm Sam Harrison was at home waiting for his tea not realising he should have been at the cricket ground for the League decider against a good Letchworth side that had easily beaten North Enfield the previous day. Sam answered the call despite a headache and promptly cleaned bowled both the openers in his first over - what a start. He took another wicket his next over and was to finish with a fourth wicket from the last over of the innings. In between his efforts we bowled very tidily with only 6 wides or no balls and fielded very well with 3 run outs, including direct hits from Archie and Griff and in fact we could have had a couple more as they struggled to get the scoreboard moving. They finished on 245-7 which looked a below par score.
Bertie was very unlucky to be well caught off the first ball of our innings but he and Griff recovered well until he was bowled off their last delivery - 203 after 4. Robert and Toby took some good singles but spoiled it with a silly run out from a no ball - 219 from 8. Matthew recovered from an early run out to hit 4 boundaries in his 26 runs and was well supported by Archie until he was bowled in their last over - 236 off 12. Enter Sam and Tate who batted calmly knowing we needed only 10 and so it came down to a final over with us 2 in front - they took 2 singles so it was left to Sam to survive the last 2 balls to secure a win and despite a nervous inside edge off the final delivery they made it. My nerves are shot!
This result means we finished top of the group and qualify for The Finals day at Welwyn Garden City on Sunday July 17th - my main problem now is who to select for this but I need to check availability first.
