U11 v Wheathampstead

We survived the rain and very dark clouds to record a comfortable win over a young team. We put them into bat and bowled well throughout only conceding 1 boundary in the first 12 overs. After Samuel and Bertie bowled tidily Toby then got our first wickets bowling 1 player and Griff taking a very good catch for another. Archie struggled with his line today but Edward produced a fast straight delivery to take another wicket. Griff forced a run out with a direct hit and then produced a beautifully flighted delivery to bowl another and despite them hitting 3 boundaries late on we kept them to 247-5.
We then batted very sensibly by taking very few risks and hitting the bad balls for four. Samuel hit 2 and ran well with Griff to take us to 218, followed by Tate and Bertie adding 24 with 3 more boundaries. We then lost a couple of wickets thanks to a silly run out and a lucky delivery but still ended on 250 after the 3rd pair. Archie and Edward then punished the bowling making 12 and 20 respectively scoring easily and not losing a wicket giving us a final total of 281-2, a win by 34 runs.
We took a number of risks on quick singles which will be dangerous against a better fielding side but at least we were positive chasing their total.
