Defeat at home

We won the toss and elected to field and Datchworth started strongly hitting boundaries off Bertie and Matthew Crowther. Toby then came on and made the breakthrough by bowling both openers and he was supported with a tidy spell from Samuel. Then up stepped our U10 debutant Matthew Lambert who bowled superbly taking 3-11 in 4 overs. Vishal struggled to find his normal accurate direction giving away a number of wides before Matthew Crowther came back to bowl 2 later order batsman and Thomas also took a wicket in his over. They finished on 105-8 which was a good performance in the end. Unfortunately it was a different story with the batting as no-one scored more than 5 runs (well played Bertie at No. 10 hitting his first ball for 4) and we failed to make any impression on some accurate bowling finishing on a dismal 37-8. Toby had to retire as he had double vision from being hit in the face while fielding so we hope he is OK today.
It is clear we are better equipped to compete in the 8 a-side format at the moment and hopefully we can get back to our best next Sunday.
