U11 at Hertford

We chose to bat first, unfortunately losing Vishal first ball to a good fast delivery. After that Archie and Matthew ran their singles well and both hit a boundary each as runs started to flow. Archie went for 8 but Sam came in and supported Matthew well. Matthew was the well caught for 16 so Robert came in and made a quick 7. We then lost 3 quick wickets including Sam for 13 and it was left to Toby (12no) and Thomas to take us past the 100 mark for the first time in the 20 over format. We finished on 108 for 7 thanks to 50 extras from the Hertford bowlers.
Tidy bowling at the start from Toby and Sam, who clean bowled their opener, meant the target looked a long way off after 6 overs. Griff bowled their No3 bat and he and Matthew gave few runs away and then Archie took 2 wickets in his spell, including a good catch from Matthew. Another excellent catch from Vishal was followed by 2 more from Jack, the first of which was superbly taken at midwicket. Thomas and Robert took a wicket each and Vishal took 2 to close out their innings on 83 for 9 giving us a 25 run winning margin.
Only problem in this game was our ground fielding and backing up as we gave away a number of silly runs with poor throws into the keeper. Good all round performance.
