The sun decided to make an appearance at Cricketfield lane as u12 Sloggers won the toss and decided to bowl. Sloppy bowling and fielding saw St Margs race off scoring at over 7 an over for the first 6 overs. They were then pegged back by Harry Frans(1), Thomas Appleby(2), Conran(1) and a couple of run outs which saw St Margs suddenly 6 down. Thereafter the runs came at a premium thanks to tight bowling from Frank P, Sam B(1), Toby(1) and Ed W who conceded just 16 runs from their 8 overs to close out the innings with St Margs on just 83 for 9.
84 for victory looked less surmountable after the early loss of Ed F, however Sam B continued his excellent form with a very well paced 25*, Toby upped the run rate but fell to a bit of a hoik and for a while Thomas and Byron struggled to score. However Alex B (17*) came in and eventually found his touch scoring especially well square and behind square. This impetus set Thomas A (21*) off who transformed from timid beginnings to power hitting ending. That last pair took us home with 4.3 overs to spare. Much greater test awaits against Broxbourne 1s on Thursday, however it was a good post half term run out for the boys and an opportunity for a couple of boys to spend some time at the crease.
