All 11 players contribute to an unbeaten start....

As we reach the half way point of the season, the U12 Eagles A team showed that they can also win the “hard way”, as they made it 5 wins out of 5, to top their HJL group.

Most impressive was the contribution made by every single player away at St Margaretsbury, on what was a somewhat “fresh and blustery” Thursday evening.

1. Austen Greenhill - Man of the match. 2 wickets for 2 runs in his first 2 overs. Turned the game in our favour. MVP.
2. Ciaran Wilson - Opening bat retired on 25 not out, he was the glue that held the innings together. Great knock.
3. Max Foster - Key opening partnership with Ciaran, scored 10 runs and bowled well picking up 1 wicket.
4. Lewis Greenhill - Captained the team with energy, passion and a smile. Took a great catch (which drew blood!). Puts the team ahead of himself, a real leader.
5. Arthur Howes - Mr Reliable with his consistent line and length & also caught a world class catch.
6. Sam McGinn - In tremendous form with the bat (retired on 28 not out); this was a vital knock to set up victory. Keep it up.
7. Ethan Hill - Bowled some unplayable yorkers and conceded just 2 runs from his 3 overs!! Genuine pace and accuracy.
8. Tom Foden - a VITAL innings just as we were beginning to wobble. Scored 20 key runs and then did the honourable thing of ‘walking’ when caught behind. Very mature behaviour and this was very well received by the opposition… he later picked up the key wicket of the oppositions danger man.
9. Daniel Pickup - Bowled 3 overs and got a well deserved wicket. Always positive in the field.
10. Charlie Waugh - In the form of his life with both bat and wicketkeeping gloves; not his day today, but he's absolutely key to this squad.
11. Luca Livermore - consistent probing line & length all season.

In all honesty this was not the ‘greatest’ of performances. The Eagles batted first and scored 122-5, without being particularly fluent. But we sensed it would be enough, and so it proved, as St Margs were restricted to 96-5, to ensure a victory margin of 26 runs.

These boys are a great group to coach. They are all showing such a great desire to improve, to achieve our goals and to ultimately have fun. Well done everyone and enjoy your half term break.
