Cricketfield Lane was bathed in sunshine and looking quite resplendent, as Hitchin were the visitors on Sunday morning, for this U12 'B team' fixture. For the 2nd time in 5 days, captain Kimball Bevington did not hesitate in electing to bat, after winning the toss. Every Eagles player contributed, with the team only losing 4 wickets in the whole 20 overs. Most notably there were good performances from Henry Lowe and debutant Zach Burns, backed up Barney Anderson, Daniel Pickup and Bevington himself. The Eagles posted a target of 291.
Hitchin were restricted quite superbly by the Eagles bowlers; Josh Mitchell bowled straight with precision, Matthew Lloyd-Williams with some extra pace and Lowe and Burns bowled tightly, conceding very few runs indeed. The highlight was a stunning caught and bowled effort by Pickup, whose bowling continues to improve with every week that goes by. Hitchin only reached 250 in the 18th over and ultimately the Eagles ran out victors, for the 2nd time in a week, this time by 21 runs.
MVP : Matthew Lloyd-Williams - for an excellent bowling performance and for not losing a wicket whilst batting
(Note: we are still facing some issues with the uploading of scores. Apologies for this; we are hoping to resolve ASAP).
