U12 EAGLES B TEAM START SEASON STRONGLY

Leventhorpe was the venue on Tuesday evening, as the Eagles B team started their 2022 league campaign. Overcast conditions and a brisk westerly wind ensured a rather 'fresh' feel to proceedings, in what proved to be a very entertaining seasons opener indeed.
Captain Kimball Bevington had no hesitation in choosing to bat, after winning the toss and it proved to be a very wise decision. With both innings in this 'pairs format' starting at 200, The Eagles opening pair (Bevington and Ethan Hill) led the visitors to 225 after their 4 overs and this positive momentum soon continued. Daniel Pickup, Benji Curtis and Max Foster all impressively made double figures without losing a wicket. Final pair Barney Anderson and Oliver Aiken then added 16 key runs as the final partnership, to ensure a challenging target of 290 was posted after the 20 overs. It was an impressive batting display all round from The Eagles.
Sawbridgeworth started well, much thanks to the Eagles bowlers who really struggled with their line and the hosts were sitting pretty at 238 after just 8 overs. Benji Curtis and Max Foster however bowled with precision and the latter also picked up 2 key catches late on, as Sawbridgeworth ultimately fell 15 runs short, finishing up on 275.
MVP goes to Barney Anderson whose constant enthusiasm and positivity, was backed up by a very strong display in the field. He was an absolute example to all.
