U12 EAGLES COMFORTABLY WIN SEASON OPENER

Visitors Hertford struggle to compete against a 'relentless' Eagles bowling attack, but tougher tests will follow. . .
The Under 12 Eagles made short work of Hertford, to open their Summer 2022 account with a very comfortable victory indeed at Cricketfield Lane.
In chilly, but bright conditions, the visitors surprisingly elected to bat on what was a green, but flat pitch. The Eagles bowlers came out 'firing on all cylinders' and quickly reduced Hertford to an incredible 17 for 6 wickets at the half way stage. Ultimately a total of just 28 all out was achieved and the wickets were shared around between: Tom Foden and Ethan Hill with 2 apiece, with 1 wicket for Luca Livermore, Austen Greenhill, Arthur Howes, Sam McGinn and Olly Sturrock. Special mention goes to Charlie Waugh who kept wicket quite superbly and did not concede 1 bye. In fact the whole Eagles team conceded just 10 extras in 13 overs, showing some fantastic togetherness in the field, to back up the bowlers.
The run chase was always going to be a formality and so it proved, with Max Foster (15 not out) and Tom Foden (7 not out) guiding the Eagles to 32 with out loss and a 10 wicket victory.
Much tougher tests will follow, but this was an impressive statement from this new squad.
