BSCC U12s kick off the season with an easy WIN over old rivals Broxbourne

On a cool damp evening in Broxbourne, BSCC U12s started the 2021 season with a WIN.

BSCC U12s batted first and struggled with the oppo bowling quality only scoring 14 runs off the first 4 overs and losing 2 quick wickets. Cam steadied the ship with positive batting and retired on 25 runs, helped by Daniel L who also retired on 27 runs. The two Eds also chipped in with 11 a piece each taking the total to a respectable 105/3 off the 16 overs. Apart from the two opening Broxbourne bowlers and a couple of quality spinners, the rest were quite wayward, giving away 22 runs in wides!

BSCC U12s were a class apart in the bowling department, restricting Broxbourne to only 8 runs after the first 8 overs! The two new signings, Monty MacLeod and Daniel Bulman, showed good pace and control picking up two wickets each. Daniel Laskey was the only fielder with warm hands taking 3 catches (although one was off a no ball!) and 2 direct run outs. Cam and Daniel L also picked up a wicket each, ending Broxbourne's innings in a well below par score of 66/8. Only Arav showed some batting class retiring on 25 runs for Broxbourne.

No time to rest though, as the next match against Hertford is next Tuesday (11th May). Unfortunately, with the rather large squad there will have to be a number of changes to the team, even though the boys performed so well.
