BSCC U12s won the two T10 matches at Hertford tonight to qualify for the Herts League Quarter Finals!
We chose to bat in the first T10, and set out very aggressively. Unfortunately we lost Charlie Laking early on for 6 however Ben Foster and Harry Pigram combined excellently, hitting boundaries and running Hertford ragged. Ben was eventually bowled trying to emulate ‘AB De Villiers’ for a quality 26, whilst Harry whacked his way to retire for 30* off just 18 balls. Jamie Ward and Zac Saunders finishes the innings off nicely and we ended up with 101-3 in our 10 overs.
We decided that we would give everyone 1 over each and fortunately everyone bowled very well, meaning Hertford didn’t get near our target, despite an excellent 31* from their opener. There were wickets for Thomas Greenhill, Lucas Dordoy, Omar Sain and two wickets for Charlie Laking. Hertford finished with 58-5.
In the second match, Hertford batted first, and started well with the same Hertford opener retiring again for 30*, however despite our lack of wickets, we managed to restrict them to just 64-1 in their 10 overs.
Charlie came in a whacked 17 off 8 balls before I made him retire. Henry Hawkins came in and hit a big 6 second ball but unfortunately fell for 8. Zac Saunders (18*) and Jamie Ward (16*) played sensibly to easily take us to our target in just 6.1 overs,
Overall, it was too very impressive wins against a very decent Hertford team.
We finished top of our group, winning 7 matches and having one postponed due to rain. It has been a fantastic group stage for us in the Herts league!
We now await the QF draw on Thursday night to see who we get next week!
