BSCC U12 vs Colchester (BTT)
By Sam Howlett
Quality all round win for BSCC!
BSCC U12s put in a fantastic all round performance to comfortably beat Colchester, a team who were unbeaten in 5 BTT games!
We lost the toss and were put in to bat. Unfortunately we lost Charlie Laking early, however Ben Foster and Jamie Ward came together and built a very steady partnership, adding 51 together before Jamie was caught for 15 trying to up the run rate.
Henry Hawkins came in and was very proactive, scoring quickly along with Ben before unfortunately being run out for 18. Ben went on to reach a much deserved half century, he batted excellently for his 54 before also holing out trying to score quickly. A quick fire 14 from Zac Saunders helped us reach 126-9 in our 25 overs.
In response, we took a vital early wicket with Henry Hawkins taking a crucial catch standing up to Lucas Dordoy, to remove their captain. However Colchester’s other opener absolutely smashed it all over the place, hitting 9 boundaries in his 41 off 22 balls, before Thomas Greenhill bowled him. From then on it was a procession, every BSCC player came on to bowl and they all did excellently, as Colchester went from 54-1 to 67 all out! There were wickets for Lucas Dordoy, Thomas Greenhill, Matt Reader and two wickets a piece for Paddy Ainsworth-Ledwidge, Jake Curtis and Jamie Ward.
It was a seriously impressive all round performance against a very good side, which gives us a lot of confidence before tomorrow’s Herts League QF!
