There was another valiant performance from the BSCC U14Bs who are regularly competing with all the other A teams in the local area, which is great to see!
Broxbourne batted first on a pitch that is often good for batting. Both openers for Broxbourne batted well both retiring for 40 runs each, before we finished the innings taking 3 quick wickets, 2 for George Howes and one for Oscar Gouldson. To only concede 140 runs on what is normally a great batting pitch, is a fantastic effort.
In response, we lost Jake Curtis early, before an excellent innings from Ollie Foot, hitting his highest ever score with 40* retired. Harry Thompson (30*) and Oscar Gouldson (21*) also put on a very solid partnership, however we ended up 30 runs short of the target.
According to Pete Curtis, who kindly ran the game again with the fixture clash, we performed well again as a team, we just need to reduce the extras a bit and apply a bit more intensity to our batting and we can win these close games in the future!
We know look forward to going to St Margs in the league on Friday before heading to Sawbo for a friendly next Wednesday!
