The U13s chose to bat first on a brisk evening at BSCC in the final warm up game of the year. A solid start was provided by Alex Warren (11*) and Joe Humphrey (13), until Arthur Seakhoa’King got the first wicket thanks to a good catch by Charlie Fair. James Frans came in at 3 and batted excellently, hitting 6 boundaries on his way to 33* off only 20 balls retired! Will Fox also played very nicely for 20 before being bowled by George Lello. Sam Shemwell added a some quick runs with 14* too as the U13s made a very good 136-2 off their 20 overs.
In return, the U14s got off to a decent start until we lost 2 quick wickets in the 5th over. There was a recovery with opener TJ Tyndall scoring a steady 14*, partnered with Ollie Foot who batted beautifully, scoring boundaries all around the wicket finishing on 27* off his 20 balls retired. Unfortunately, the U14s continued to lose wickets throughout, except for Matt Reader who put up a fight with 13*, having kept excellently in the first innings. We finished 21 runs short in the end, but the game was great preparation for the season, so everyone was happy.
Thanks to Graeme and U13s for the game, we now look forward to the first league game of the season for the U14Bs, who are at home to St Margs next Tuesday.
