BSCC U15 As beat BSCC U15 Bs

In the second match of the day for the U15 As, they played our U15 Bs in the league on the top pitch.

The A team won the toss and batted first, and went with a mixed up batting line up. Ethan Baker (6) and Ben Warren (22) opened the batting, with both lads hitting lusty blows, particularly Ben. Charlie Laking, who was batting for the first time in over year since injury, batted very well, timing the ball excellently scoring 37* at nearly a run a ball. Bertie Warnes and George Howes also got a go up the order and scored 8 each. Austin Osborne scored a quick 15, before James Bayley played the most extraordinary little innings. He hit his first ball for his first ever 6, hit his second ball for 4, then his fourth ball for another 6 as he hit 17* off just 6 balls! Wickets for the Bs were split between Charlie Fair, Jamie Ward, Will Steward (on debut), Arthur Seakhoa’King and Harry Thompson. Zac Ziepe and Joel Bagnall also bowled very well and were unlucky to go wicket less.
The A team finished with 165-5 in their 20 overs.

In response, the B team made a strong start, with Harry Thompson batting very well, hitting early boundaries. Jamie Ward and Will Steward were unlucky to get a peach of a ball each from Ben Warren. Oscar Gouldson came in and out on a good partnership with Harry before he was unfortunately run out for 12. Harry Thompson then fell for a strong 19 to Charlie Laking’s “off spin”. Thomas Greenhill, James Bayley (2) and Austin Osborne (3) took a flurry of quick wickets at the end of the innings with only Jake Curtis showing resistance with a solid 14.
The B team were bowled out for 79 in the end, which was a decent effort, and was more than Broxbourne had scored in the morning game.

The A team will hope to keep their winning run going against Reed in the National Cup, whilst the B team will hope to get their first win in the league against St Margs on Thursday!
