In the first of a double header on the top pitch, BSCC U15 A played Broxbourne.
Our skipper Ben Warren won the toss and bowled first, with himself and Austin Osborne setting the tone excellently. The excellent bowling was matched by the fielding and attitude as we really squeezed Broxbourne, taking regular wickets throughout the innings. Harry Pigram and Thomas Greenhill both took an important wicket each, before Ben Foster came on and took two wickets including their best batter who was acrobatically caught by Ben Warren. Sam Shemwell also took a wicket very well caught by Charlie Laking. Austin and Ben came back in at the end to clean up the tail and end up with 2 wickets each as we held Broxbourne to just 75/9 in their 20 overs.
In response, Henry Hawkins looked solid as usual whilst Harry Pigram took the other approach, hitting two of his first four balls for massive 6s, including one which unfortunately left a cricket ball sized dent in the side of a Tesla. Both openers fell in quick succession (Henry 11, Harry 21), however Ben Foster (17*) and Austin Osborne (8*) combined to knock off the 76 required in just 11 overs.
It was a hugely dominant performance against a Broxbourne side who had won every game coming into this match. The bowling and fielding in particular was excellent, with every bowler bowling well with great discipline.
