BSCC U15 Inter Squad Friendly

Unfortunately the U15 A team had their opposition pull out of their game last night (and tonight too), however that opened up the chances to do an U15 friendly.

The teams were split evenly with Austin Osborne captaining one team and Ben Warren the other.

Team Ben started with Austin catching Ben Warren in just the second ball of the game off Zac Ziepe’s bowling. Then was the a 70 partnership between Thomas Greenhill (14* retired) and Henry Hawkins (28). Harry Pigram hit a huge 6 on his way to 14, whilst Sam Chapman scored a quick 28* with shots all round the ground. Harry Taylor was the only other batsmen to get off the mark, scoring a solid 13. There were wickets for Euan Hardie, Charlie Fair and Ollie Foot, with Zac Ziepe the standout with figures of 2-5 in his 3 overs. Team Ben finished with 145-6 in their 24 overs.

In response, Ausin got off to a flyer hitting 3 boundaries before Ben Warren bowled him a beauty that swung in and nipped away and hit the top of off stump. At that point, Ben Foster then took over the scoring, playing some extraordinary shots as his excellent form continued. He ended up being bowled, chopping on off Sam Chapman for 57 off just 30 balls! It was an excellent innings which effectively won his side the game. Bertie Warnes was then unluckily to be well caught by Henry Hawkins down the leg side for 7. This meant Ollie Foot had to do the scoring and that’s what he did as he smashed 34* off just 20 balls including his first ever 6! Charlie Laking stayed solid for his 4* as Team Austin chased 147-3 in just 16.1 overs.

It was an enjoyable game with everyone getting at least 3 overs or a bat and 2 overs, which is what we wanted. The A team now look towards their huge game on Monday against Broxbourne which both counts as the top of the League decider and as the National Cup Quarter Final!
The B team head to St Margs next Friday 24th June.
