U15s v St Margaretsbury

A longer game last night at St Margaretsbury of 25 overs saw us win the toss and choose to bat. We were in real trouble from the word go, losing skipper, Freddie Chapman (LBW) to the first ball of the innings. Arthur Edwards followed quite quickly after a very sharp run out by the opposition keeper.
Ben Foster and Jake Anders steadied the ship with a fine 3rd wicket partnership of 92, against some tight bowling from the St Margaretsbury side. We were only on 33 after 12 overs but then Ben and Jake picked up the pace. Ben unfortunately hit his own wicket when on 46 and Jake retired on 52 not out. Will Stabb, Archie Pyle and Toby Warnes all added a few and we managed to get to 129 off our 25 overs.

Freddie and Arthur opened the bowling and while we bowled reasonably well to begin with, the St Margeretsbury batters played aggressively and also benefitted from a lot of edges. Arthur took a nice wicket early on but then the opposition began to dominate and attack our bowling which was often far too short. Archie Pyle took a phenomenal catch fielding close and Josh Bailey swung the ball well but overall the opposition dominated with their batting and got home in 14 overs. A tough night when we weren’t quite at our best and against a team who were very confident.
