The U15's journeyed to Saffron Walden County High School to play Saffron Walden U15 on another sweltering evening. Saffron Walden were asked to bat first getting off to a slow start with Freddie Hickey (1 for 2) and Sam Harrison (0 for 7) posting 20 from the first 5 overs.
The wicket was not the best for batting - a little slow and low - although the outfield was quick.
Our bowlers showed good control with Saffron Walden never being allowed to increase the run rate. Wickets for Freddie Chapman (2 for 8) and James Gilbert (1 for 10) saw the hosts post 96 for 4 from their 20 overs.
The Stortford reply began well with an opening partnership of 68 in 12 overs between Tom Howes (18) and Freddie Chapman (30 retired).
However, wickets fell including 2 run outs which created some tension on the sidelines. It was left to Freddie Hickey to hit the winning boundary with 7 balls remaining.
So another close game. Good to win this one by 4 wickets. Well done all!
