U15s v Broxbourne again

Availability was very poor for this game tonight so we travelled with 6 U15s and 3 U13s with a plan to score as many bonus points as possible. In the main we bowled well but found it difficult to contain strong early batting on a very easy scoring ground with only 9 boys - we almost got a runout first ball but Matt Ealey finally made the breakthrough with 2 wickets in his 4 tight overs conceding only 22 runs. Liam Sumner bowled 2 good overs followed by Josh Simons also bowling well picking up a wicket thanks to a sharp catch by Euan Thomas. The final target was boosted by the opposition hitting some loose bowling in the last few overs so 163 were needed for victory.
Euan Thomas and Nick McCrone batted brilliantly for an opening stand of 65 in only 8 overs but after McCrone went for a seasons best of 27 we failed to offer further support to Thomas, eventually retiring on an excellent 50 not out and we were all out for 112 in the final over. Many thanks to U13 Thomas Harttree for coming in at the last minute. This result us 14 points from the match and ensures we can qualify if we beat Sawbridgeworth on Friday.
