With the winner qualifying for the U15 Qtr finals nevres were evident in this final match of the League season. We chose to field first and Alec Chappell got the early break having the opener caught behind. Tight bowling kept the run rate down with only 46 coming from the first 10 overs. A wicket for Jack Williams brought in Josh Ramsay who added significant acceleration along with opener Kyle Henchie, who retired on a well made 54 not out. Matthew Ealey then removed the danger man taking 2 wickets in 2 balls and we controlled the rest of the innings, Liam Sumner taking 2 wickets and Jack Williams ran out another with a direct hit - 110-7 at the close looked a little under par.
In reply we lost Adam Bassingthwaighte early as he played on and Alec Chappel was caught behind. Euan Thomas (50 not out) and Matt Ealey (17) added a brisk 34 in 5 overs to put us in a strong position but we failed to get Henchie's slow bowling away, as he took 4 wickets, and we left ourselves too much to do in the final over and fell 5 runs short. A disappointing end to a busy week but at least we competed strongly and entertained the crowd to an exciting finish.
