Without the help of the scorebook the highlights of a high scoring were easy to remember in this 3rd XI fixture vs Roding Valley.
The bat domintated. The bowlers toiled. The fielders did not help much.
Asked to bat Roding Valley ran precariously and presented Stortford with an early run out. This after the first dropped catch of the day. This only brought to the wicket the Roding Valley no. 3 who smashed 161 before he picked out the wrong man G. Smith in the outfield. Missed catches and short / wide bowling left the 3rd XI looking down the barrel of a 320 score by the visitors.
No matter. The wicket was true and after Jaya helped himself to a typical 6 over fifty, the run rate was established and never dipped as Makin and Barrett completed excellent hundreds.
Not a day to be a bowler.
The 3rd XI go top of their league with this win at the half way stage of the season.
