Following the successful introduction of a 5th XI (1825s) side to BSCC in 2025, the side embarked on the second campaign at a sun drenched Farnham CC (our venue for home games) playing Hoddesdon 4th XI.
Skipper for the day Grahame lost the toss and we were asked to bowl first. Our opening bowlers Ed Warren and Alex Burnet renewed their age group partnership and beat the bat any number of times both making use of a swinging new ball. Alex was super economical and Ed picked up a couple of wickets including the opposition captain through the gate!
Max Mason and Henry SS then took over and slowed down the run rate. Henry was especially accurate going for just 12 from his 7 overs.
Then Ophir cashed in at the other end picking up 4 wickets and decimating their middle order. This included an astonishing catch by Max Mason who flung out an arm whilst running backwards to hold on to a swirling top edged shot! Then it was the Adi Dua show as he took the final 3 wickets in 4 balls for no runs!
Chasing 78 to win, openers Tom Foden and Foz wasted no time. Foz hit 5 fine fours in his 21* and Tom scored the season's first 1825s 50. His 56* included 9 fours and 2 sixes off just 31 balls. This included a six over the nearby paddocks to win the match after just 8.1 overs.
So an emphatic win and we march on with what will probably be a very different XI away to Sawbo next week.
