Under 19 girls met Berkswell in the regional final at home on Tuesday, the 5th of August. They won the toss and elected to bat and a strong start from Eva Cullen and Suzy Reader (22) ensured that Berkswell were on the back foot at the start, putting on 52 for the first wicket. When Cullen was out for 35, Mabel Reid picked up the baton and accelerated to a rapid 37 off 22 balls. Then Elizabeth Clune continued the scoring contributing 39 of 28 balls Stortford finishing on 181 for seven off 20 overs.
In reply, Berkswell’s top six were blown away by Mabel Reid (1-12) and Sarah Pearson (5-16) for just 30. Berkswell rallied but Stortford won easily with the final score being 107 for 9. Reader taking 2 -21. A strong batting performance but POTM Sarah Pearson for the dominant display with the ball.
So the girls go to Kibworth for the National final for the second time in 3 years.
