In the first development XI game of the year at High Roding, captain Zac Ahmed won the toss and batted first. We got off to an absolute flyer as 1st XI spinner Dom Clutterbuck scored a rapid 50*, showing his class with the bat. Toby Warnes also batted excellently, scoring a very solid 34. Other than Dom and Toby, we struggled with the bat, with no one else reaching double figures as we scored 129 all out.

In response, we bowled beautifully at the start, with Arthur Edwards bowling well alongside Sam Harrison who was the star of the show taking 5 wickets for 10 runs in 5 overs! That included a triple wicket final over, all clean bowled! James Gilbert came on and took the 6th wicket, but unfortunately, two senior pros for High Roding combined for an 80 partnership as High Roding coasted to a win by 4 wickets.

Overall, it was great for all the lads to get a bat, and the bowlers to all get a bowl. Congrats to Sam for his excellent bowling! And thanks to Zac Ahmed and Dom Clutterbuck for coming and helping all the youngsters develop their long format skills today.
