U11 girls home league match against St Margaretsbury

A wonderful win for our talented and ever improving team of cricketing girls against a very competitive opposition.

Captain Amelie won coin flip and chose to bowl first.

A tight opening over from Charlotte set the tone for the innings. Followed by debutant Evie who also bowled very tight lines indeed. This was followed by Esme who during her spell bowled at a very nice pace and always on the money! All of this accurate bowling was complemented by very tight fielding from the girls. As ever always encouraging each other and always backing each other up. It really does show on the field that this U11’s group really do play as one unit and it’s lovey to watch. A super catch from Freya and a run out by grace with an excellent throw at the stumps rounded off the innings keeping the oppo to just 252 runs!

On to the batting with debutant Evie opening the batting and confidently hitting a four right away! The innings got off to a very solid start and continued all throughout. A four beautifully struck to the boundary by Freya who supported by Amelie, Hattie and Charlotte kept the middle of the innings very steady. It was then over to Grace and Martha “the brick wall” Gibson (as she will be known by from now on) due to her playing some the most solid forward defence shots against a fast accurate bowler (who wouldn’t look out of place in an U15’s match to be honest) but the girls saw us home and protected our score of 270!

Another great win for this very talented, hard working and ever improving team.
