U11 girls win against St Albans

The girls hosted St. Albans on a very fine morning on the Plateau. It contrasted with the Thursday before against the same side which was played in between thunderstorms on a very damp pitch! Elena captained and won the toss electing to field. On Thursday we had 20 wides or no balls (Vs their 40), on Sunday the girls kept that down to 15 which makes a real difference to the scores.
Two wickets a piece for Betsy, Ava and Elena and one for Emily. Some excellent keeping from Maddie and some great catches (notably from Libby) all meant we kept their score to a modest 266 for 7 wickets.
In return Maddie and Lily collected 19 runs between then with some lovely 4’s from Maddie. Betsy and Ava also racked up 19, Edie and Emily 6 between them and Libby and Elena got 20. We lost just 4 wickets including one run out which could have been avoided! In the end our final pair took the game away from St. Albans and we ended up with a comfortable victory, 298 for 5.
The improvement from the beginning of the season to what was our last league game is fantastic to see. Improvements in all aspects of the game. As in previous matches, some better running and calling when batting, plus some sharper backing up and positioning in the field is something to work on. Overall, though, an excellent performance.
