The U11 girls team travelled to Radlett for their return match having lost last time at home.
Radlett won the toss and opted to bat first, with the first pairing scoring 32 from 5 overs with additional points for bowling extras. The accuracy of the girls bowling is improving with the season, however still room to work on reducing the number of bowling extras. The Radlett team had a wide range of age and experience and the middle batters were young and new to cricket which worked to the girls advantage keeping the run rate down. Notable bowling performance from captain Maddie who bowled 2 maiden overs, but all the girls bowled well. Wickets taken by Elsie, Nyah (2), Edie and Evie (2 in a row). Some good fielding but still room to work on backing up, dynamic fielding and communication on the field. Final total for Radlett 259/6.
Stortford innings was made more difficult by the younger Radlett bowlers struggling to bowl to the wicket, and a few balls trickled under bats to hit the stumps. Coming into the final pairing we were 140 for 5 wickets, with 20 needed from the final pair. Maddie and Ava rose ably to the challenge and despite a few wickets Ava hit 7 fours taking her batting total to a very impressive 30. A nail biting end for the spectators but a well deserved win for the girls finishing 267 for 9 wickets.
Thanks to Joe for travelling to coach and umpire and well done girls!
