The sunshine was a welcome change from the slightly chillier start in the first game!
Again, we lost the toss and Datchworth chose to field first.
With a full team Florence Mack and Charlotte started the game well adding some good runs to get us off the ground. Elsie and Scarlett followed making a good pair, as were Mattie and Aggie adding some good runs. Grace and Flo McB were the final pair and we finished on a slightly precarious 257.
A few unfortunate wickets lost and a run out due to a muddle in communication meant the score was lower than it could have been.
Onto the bowling. 4 good wickets taken by Charlotte and Elsie, taking 2 each getting us off to a good start. The run count at 9 overs was equal between both teams and the game was ours for the taking however tiredness possibly crept in a little towards the middle and end as we lost a fair few runs to some inaccurate throwing at the bales and some balls slipping through which the opposition took advantage of. They ran at every opportunity and without hesitation. Perhaps this is a lesson we could take moving forward.
All in all a great, evenly matched game but also proving the need for greater communication when both fielding and batting. Get those big voices going girls...we know they are in you!
Players of the match..
Mattie for her consistent backing up over both games and Charlotte for some great batting.
We would also like to thank Graeme for umpiring.
