First pairs game of the season for the U11 girls, with many of the team having never played any match cricket before. St Albans won the toss and elected to field first. Our batters got off to a great start despite the rain with Florence (McKenzie) and Evie scoring 35 off the first 4 overs. The batting continued to go well with all the girls scoring a good number of runs and only 2 wickets taken.
Fielding was equally impressive for the first game. The girls took 4 wickets, 3 of these with some excellent bowling by Florence (McBride). Grace’s debut as captain was impressive, the girls communicated well and were very supportive of each other both on and off the field against a very friendly and welcoming opposition.
Many thanks to Paul for umpiring at short notice in the rain.
Final score BSCC 309 for 2, St Albans 262 for 4.
Player of the match Florence McBride for her excellent bowling.
