Well done to Sarah Walker and the team!

Stortford Ladies were crowned Vitality T20 National Club champions after beating favourites Ansty Ladies CC in the finals held at Newport CC yesterday.

Stortford Ladies had shown fantastic form in the National T20 cup matches and qualified, along with Ansty Ladies CC, Sessay CC, Bridgwater CC for the finals day.

On a bright, sunny day Ansty Ladies CC, who sit second in the Women’s Southern Premier League, comfortably beat Sessay CC in the morning semi-final.

In the afternoon semi-final, Stortford Ladies played Bridgwater Ladies CC who came up against some tight Stortford bowling, scoring 64-6 in their allotted 20 overs. In response Stortford captain Sarah Walker and Anna Swan comfortably knocked off the runs in under 10 overs.

Onto the final against Ansty Ladies CC who batting first scoring 125 off their 20 overs with opener, Lucy Western, making a fine 73 not out.

The Stortford innings did not get off to the best of starts as Sarah Walker and Anna Swan were dismissed early. With the score on 8 for 2 someone was going to have to play a match winning innings and the Ladies heroines were vice-captain Nikki Little and Ella Vasey who built a 100 partnership together taking Stortford to 108 before Ella was run out for 36. Emma Jones joined Nikki Little, who top scored with a fine 59 not out, to see the Ladies home in 18.1 overs.

Well done to our Ladies who played some exceptional cricket throughout this tournament and deservedly became Vitality T20 National Club Champions!
