England were invited to bat first with local player Simon Sargent making 36 as did his Captain John Evans after Darren Bennett had taken 2 early wickets. Late acceleration from Derek Towe (43no) and Godfrey Lamb (33no) got them to 232-6 at the break.

The Stortford reply was based around a brilliant 92 from Matt Drury but the very accurate bowling from England throughout lead to an exciting finish as the Vets were bowled out for 210, with Marcus Young taking 3-44 and Mike Stefford 4-21.

It was fantastic for the club to host the England squad as they start their preparations to defend their trophy in New Zealand in February 2026. We look forward to following the tournament and wish them all the best.
