After an enforced absence of two years, we are delighted to announce the return of the BSCC Annual Dinner.

Dear Member

We cordially invite you to attend this excellent event as a valued, previous attendee or as a newcomer: you are all most warmly welcome.

To celebrate the return of this event, we are very fortunate and delighted to have Geoff Miller OBE as our guest of honour. Widely acclaimed and highly sought after, he is an engaging and entertaining after-dinner speaker. Born and bred in Derbyshire, Geoff represented the county with outstanding loyalty and success from his debut in 1973 to 1987. After a three year spell with Essex, Geoff returned to finish his first class career with his county of birth. In his first class career as a right handed batsman and off spin bowler he amassed 12027 runs and 888 wickets. He represented England in 34 tests and 25 ODI’s making his test debut v West Indies at The Oval in 1976.

Following retirement, Geoff was appointed to the ECB’s Board of Selectors under the Chairmanship of David Graveney in 2000, where he was instrumental in putting together the historic 2005 Ashes winning squad. He was appointed to the newly formed role of ‘National Selector’ in 2008 and oversaw England's rise to becoming No. 1 across all three formats of the game. During his tenure, England beat Australia Down Under for the first time in 24 years and won a global one-day trophy for the first time. For his services to sport, Geoff was appointed an OBE in the 2013 New Year's Honours list.

The Dinner will once again be compered by Roger Dakin, the former England hockey player and coach. Roger is well known to us at BSCC and he continues to be highly regarded and respected in his role as Master of Ceremonies.

In the past, demand for places has exceeded capacity and we therefore encourage early application. Tables seat a maximum of 10 people, priced at £450. Individual places are priced at £45. The Dinner will comprise a three course meal, preceded by a sparkling wine reception, generously sponsored by Weston Homes Plc. There is also a licensed, pay bar and wine and other drinks for the table can be ordered on the night. If you prefer, there will be a dedicated phone line to enable you to book wine for the table in advance, payment being taken by credit or debit card. For the first time, we are engaging the professional services of ‘Full Event Fundraising’ to organise a Silent Auction with some fantastic items available to purchase. The dress code for the Dinner is lounge suits. The event will finish at midnight with bar closure at 11.30pm.

Please secure your table/place, with payment by latest WEDNESDAY 9th March 2022. For applications received after this date, tables/places will be offered on a first come first served basis, subject to availability. Please reply to me directly by email or telephone by the closing date - E: alanmilward53@gmail.com M: 07966006529
