The U9 produced a good all round performance to beat a young and inexperienced Sawbridgeworth team at the Leventhorpe ground.
Henry and Jake both took a wicket each on their BSCC debut. First Henry, thanks to a fine catch in the field by Seb C and then later in the innings Jake was rewarded for bowling straight at the stumps, dislodging the bails in his final over.
Brandon helped himself to a wicket maiden in the final set of overs as the home team closed on 243/3.
All U9s contributed runs with the bat. Opening pair Thabani and Jake nearly ran the total down between them. Jake found the boundary 5 times to top score with an impressive 24 not out. Well played Jake. Thabani also found the boundary as the pair demonstrated some very positive calling and running.
Seb C and Theo kept the run rate high. Seb C (20no) struck 4 boundaries and Theo 2 as the game was all but safe at midway stage of the innings.
Sawbridgeworth bowled more consistently in the second half the innings but Ibrahim, Seb L and Brandon all found the boundary to see U9 surpass the 300 runs milestone for the third time this season, finishing on 326/4.
A huge thanks to Mark for umpiring this game.
Well done U9.
