Captain Tally Miles
Broxbourne won the toss and were first to bat.
They had some good batsmen that scored 5 fours and a handful of singles. But what really let us down was the number of wides that were bowled. This is a message to ALL U9's...we must practice our bowling and improve our accuracy. Practice in the garden, in the field, in the nets...just not in Mum's kitchen!!
Well done to Olivia and Kieran for taking wickets.
Broxbourne 290-2
Stortford in to bat next, and we were chasing a big score thrown down by Broxbourne. But we were up for the challenge. Broxbourne had some very strong, and some questionable bowling techniques. But again we need to learn from this. The team were caught out be a ball balled high in the air, coming down and hitting the stumps...some were called as a no-ball, others classed as a dubious 'Yorker', depending who was umpiring!! Several of these were bowled and we were caught out. Solid batting from all our pairs with good communication throughout.
A brilliant first league match debut from Ted Russell who scored 2 Fours. Well done Ted!!
Standout pairing has to go to Charlie Hughes and Benjamin Furrer, who really boosted our final tally and worked brilliantly as a pair. Well done boys!!
Bishop's Stortford 259-6
Let's just learn from our mistakes U9's...particularly for the rematch with Broxbourne on the 24/6!! We can do better.
