The U12s won a rearranged match which even enjoyed some sunshine! We were put into bat and after a steady few overs we then lost a cluster of wickets, two caught behind and one run out. From 32-3 in the fifth over partnerships from Ryan and Henry and then Jamie and Henry built up an excellent score. There were a lot of twos and some threes from balls that will go for boundaries later in the summer. By the end of the 17th over all three batsmen were retired after getting to 25. With completely new players arriving for the last three overs we did lose a few more wicket but the boys kept the score moving and we finished at 125 with only one batsmen left to come in.
Jamie and Ridley then opened the bowling very tightly and although it took them 4 overs to get the first wicket we had only conceeded 9 runs. Subsequent bowlers generally kept up the pressure. Rohan and Thomas bowled come exciting overs of leg spin and took a couple of wickets. In the tenth over Olly took two wickets (and a third off a no ball!) which left Hertford at 32 for 6. To their credit they then had a good partnership that batted for 6 overs until broken by Veer and a good catch low down from Henry. However the score was 65 for 7 with only four overs left and four more tight overs and two wickets saw Hertford get to 73 for 9. Olly finished with with three wickets (and had another off a no ball so could have been even better).
There are a few things to work on but the team player really well and kept their concentration. The challenge is going to play as well against slightly more experienced teams over the next few weeks.
