Reed U13s beat BSCC U12s in a close game

BSCC won the toss and decided to bat with light fading early these days.

Dan L (20) started steadily, but Ossie (2) hit a powerful square cut straight to their tallest fielder, whilst both Dexter and Henry ran themselves out without scoring, with the score only on 10. Caleb (16) and Dan then batted steadily to take the score to 42 after the 11th over. Unfortunately, as they both tried to accelerate, they were both caught out. Ed C (16) then batted sensibly with Dan B (5n.o.) to take the final score to below par 85/7. The only dissapointment was that most batsmen jogged the first run and didn't push for twos with fielders deep on the boundry - potentially losing out on 10-15 more runs.

In response we started well with Henry (3o-8r-4w) bowling amazingly well taking a wicket in his first over with the score on 4. Unfortunately, they built up a 55 run partnership thereafter with our bowlers quite ineffective, with everyone bowling an over each. At the half way point with the score on 60, 25 runs short, Henry bowled again and picked up his second wicket, with Dexter (3o-20r-1w) easily bowling the quickest, whilst Ed was tidy going for only 4 runs. We decided to bowl these 3 bowlers again to see if we can take the match deeper. Henry in his 3rd over then picked up 2 more wickets in the first 2 balls to make it really tasty! Reed batters were panicking. Unfortunately they reached the target with 4 overs and 4 wickets to go. Another 20 runs and the result could've been different.

A good performance by the lads against some big 13 year olds and great experience for next season.
