We got an early lesson on how much we need to improve to compete in this League. Batting first we started well with Will making 9 and Oliver 20 including 4 boundaries but yet again we were guilty of being over aggressive against good bowling losing 4 quick wickets and when James followed after a quick 20 we were 65-5 after 11 overs. This meant we could not afford to attack their weaker bowlers and had to be content with lots of singles. After 3 more wickets it was left to Jack (4 no) and Ben with a brilliant 31no to take us to a competitive 123-8 but still 30 runs short of what we could have got. Broxbourne's top 5 bats were all very strong and our bowling let us down for once - we need to learn to avoid bowling short and down the legside. Jack took 1 wicket plus a run out was all we could manage and they got home with almost 3 overs to spare. They were the best team in the League last year so hopefully we can keep improving in the next games.
