BSCC U13A convincingly beat West Essex today at Matching Green to finish the season.
BSCC batted first with Thomas Greenhill getting us off to a flyer with 3 classy drives on his way to 29. Ben Foster (17) and Zac Saunders (15) both batted well scoring quickly whilst skipper Charlie Laking was the anchor we batted around. Ben Warren smashed 25 before getting out to his brother Alex, who was playing for West Essex. Alex also got Charlie for a very solid 41. We finished with 166-5 in our 30 overs.
In response, we bowled beautifully with Ben Warren nicking off their opener first over, whilst Harry Pigram bowled very tightly at the other end. Thomas Greenhill and Ethan Baker followed up the openers by bowling accurately and taking 1 and 2 wickets respectively. From 40-4, we were on top and the rest of the bowlers wrapped it up nicely. Wickets went to Lucas Dordoy (2), Ben Foster, Herbie MacLeod (2) and Omar Sain. The fielding highlight was Ben Warren’s 3 catches including an extraordinary one handed diving catch off at mid off to a ball that was hit very hard! We bowled them out for 71 in 21 overs.
It finishes off a very successful season for the U13A team winning every game except one against the BSCC U14s. We now finish the season off on Wednesday with a mini tournament before the end of season awards are given out.
