BSCC U13s WIN AT ST MARGARETSBURY

BSCC U13As won at St Margaretsbury this morning. Our team, including 4 U13Bs and an U12, performed well as a group on a damp sticky pitch in cold windy conditions.

We batted first and quickly realised that the pitch was sticky so knew a huge score wasn't on the cards. Charlie Laking (10) got us off to a good start with his partner Thomas Greenhill playing the standout innings scoring fluently all around the ground. Unfortunately we kept losing wickets throughout the middle overs, however Thomas played excellently retiring with 34*. The only other batsmen to really get in was George Lello who played very well for his 17*. We finished with a solid 130-7 in our 20 overs.

In response, St Margs started well with both openers retiring, although at a slow rate due to our accurate bowling. TJ Tyndall eventually made the breakthrough which was caught well by Bertie Warnes. Straight after that, our U12 Alex Warren, who turned up at short notice due to a late pull out, came on to take an amazing 3 wickets for 1 run in his two overs! We were comfortable from then on with George Lello and Ethan Baker taking the last two wickets. Skipper Charlie Laking took two excellent stumpings on his return with the gloves.

Overall it was a solid performance that was enjoyable for all, abeit in very cold conditions!
