The BSCC U13 A continued their incredible start to the season by comfortably beating West Essex at Jobbers Wood today.
In a 30 over a side game, we batted first, with openers Henry Hawkins (20) and Ben Foster (54) putting on 75 for the first wicket, with Ben Foster in particular batting excellently. Unfortunately we then had a serious middle order collapse losing 5 wickets for 12 runs, however a late partnership between Zac Saunders (19) and Thomas Greenhill (16) helped us get to 147-9. Had our middle order not collapsed, we could’ve gotten 180-200 easily.
However, it turned out 147 was more than enough as we proceed to bowl phenomenally. All 7 of our main bowlers bowled 3 overs each, with no-one going for more than 12 runs! The wickets were shared by Ethan Baker, Paddy A-L (2), Sam Chapman, Harry Pigram (2) and 3 for Thomas Greenhill. Zac Saunders and Charlie Laking also came on and burgled a couple of wickets caught excellently on the boundary by Sam Chapman.
It was an incredible performance to beat a district level side so comfortably, not to mention that West Essex played with 12 players, but it shows how strong this team is!
It also makes it 5/5 wins for U13 A + B team, so it really has been a fantastic start to the season!
