Junior Cricket’s return!

Junior cricket returned to Bishop’s Stortford with two U13 inter squad friendlies, the first of which was between the 18 players in the U13 A squad.

It turned out to be a tight game between Ben’s team and Charlie’s team, with Ben’s team winning thanks to a flurry of late wickets. Ben’s team batted first with three batsmen reaching double figuers, Henry Hawkins (17*), Paddy A-L (11*) and the standout innings from debutant Ben Warren with 35* at over a run a ball. There was a wicket a piece for Charlie Laking, Harry Pigram and Lucas Dordoy.

In response, Charlie’s team lost regular wickets throughout, bar a solid 11* from Jamie Ward and an extraordinary innings from Zac Saunders, who went from 3 off 11 balls, to 39 off 30 balls, including 7 boundaries! The wickets were shared by Paddy A-L, Sam Chapman, Jake Curtis, Ben Warren and Alex Warren who bowled just 2 balls and took 2 wickets!

It was really good to get the players out there again, with some very good individual performances, especially baring in mind how long it’s been since they last played. One area we were clearly rusty on was the fielding, with 4 dropped catches and a few sloppy midfields, but that will come with more regular training.

Overall, an enjoyable start to the season!
