Hoddesdon won the toss and decided to bat first but were immediately in trouble as Matthew Lambert and Sam Caton took a wicket each early on. Their next 2 batsmen recovered well and both retired having got to 25 thanks to a costly dropped catch. JP Dunphy then clean bowled 2 in 2 balls as we regained some control. Noah Boodhun recovered from one bad over to take a wicket in his second and Brendan O'Reilly bowled superbly at the death to take 1-9 in his 3 overs and was supported by 2 tight overs from Edward Swift leaving them on 121-7.
Toby Warnes and Edward started confidently taking 21 off the first 3 overs until Edward was bowled off his legs and Vishal followed unluckily bowled by a double bounce delivery. Will Hale steadied the ship batting sensibly but Sam Harrison lasted only 2 balls hitting the first for 4 but then getting caught which brought in Griff, who appeared to be attacking mood as he smashed 5 4s in a few overs and then hit a 6 to retire on 30 not out. Despite losing Will for a well made 24 and Samuel Caton first ball we were well ahead of the rate required and Matthew (11 not out) and JP (3 not out) saw us calmly home with more than 2 overs to spare - a good all round team performance. The only negative was that our fielding and catching was a little suspect at times but that is 2 wins from 2 so far.
