BSCC U13 v St Margaretsbury

This was an important game for us but unfortunately we let ourselves down with very poor fielding dropping a number of easy chances which the opposition batsmen took full advantage off. Sam H bowled superbly at the start taking 2 wickets but then in his 4th over bowled 2 beamers both hit for 4 which cost us 12 runs. Matthew L bowled tidily and was unlucky to drop one off his own bowling while Matthew C took 2 wickets from his first 2 balls but then bowled a few wides. Once Edward had bowled their No.4 we had them 49-5 but some big hitting and poor ground fielding allowed them to take control and score freely. We were also unfortunate as Robert picked up a wrist injury after a great stop which meant he was unable to take any further part in the game. There was 1 wicket each for Thomas H and Griff but they scored 142-8 in their 20 overs.
Despite losing Archie to a good catch we started well with Edward and Matthew C hitting strong boundaries but yet again both we guilty of playing across straight deliveries and were bowled for 14 and 18 respectively. Thomas H was unlucky to be caught behind down the leg side for 11 and after some good shots from Griff he was deceived by the flight and bowled for 17. Sam H (8no) and Matthew L, run out 6, ensured we passed 100 to gain maximum bonus points but it was still a disappointing performance overall.
